Snapfish Packaging
Q4 Product Packaging Launch
Designing a packaging
system that transforms
the delivery box into
part of the Snapfish
storytelling experience.
Role: Brand Designer
Scope: Packaging Design
When the executive team approved a shift to printing select box sizes in-house, the design team was tasked with developing five new packaging designs in time for the Q4 holiday season. The goal was to create packaging that would stand out during delivery while reinforcing Snapfish’s own brand identity, differentiating it from the bright orange packaging associated with its parent company. Working closely with my Creative Director and copy writer , I helped design and develop a new packaging system that leaned into Snapfish’s aquamarine and squid ink brand colors while emphasizing the emotional experience of receiving photo products. With no previous packaging templates to reference, we built the system from the ground-up concepting structure, layout, and messaging that would enhance the unboxing moment.
To reinforce the sentimental nature of the brand, we incorporated messaging throughout the packaging experience, including phrases such as “Packed with love and a little magic,” “Unbox a moment worth holding on to,” and interior messaging revealed during the unboxing process like “Ready to relive the moment.” These details transformed the shipping box from a functional container into part of the storytelling experience.
Despite an aggressive 2.5-week timeline, the team successfully delivered five distinct packaging designs ready for production. The boxes are now shipped nationwide, bringing Snapfish’s brand directly into customers’ homes while creating a memorable first touchpoint with the products inside. The project was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my time on the team, requiring fast decision-making, close collaboration, and creative problem solving under tight deadlines.
