For the Love of the V
Community-Driven Feminine Care Initiative
Designing a Community-Driven Initiative to Deliver Essential Care Products
Role: Project Organizer, Creative Lead, Designer
Scope: Campaign Design, Print & Digital Advertising, Community Coordination, Event Support
For the Love of the V was a two-year community initiative aimed at providing essential hygiene products to individuals in need. Over a three-month collection period each year, a network of dedicated volunteers and local storefronts gathered tampons, pads, deodorants, and socks. At the conclusion of the drive, these items were distributed to local shelters, accompanied by unisex care kits and hot lunches at finale events held in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore. The initiative sought to address a critical gap in access to basic necessities, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and those in need within the community.
As project organizer, designer, and advertiser, I played a pivotal role in bringing this initiative to life. I designed print and digital materials to raise awareness and drive participation, strategically placing collateral in eight local storefronts and circulating graphics through social media platforms. I also managed advertising campaigns and coordinated with community partners to ensure maximum visibility and engagement.
Through these efforts, the initiative successfully collected over 18,000 care products and distributed more than 350 meals, directly impacting the lives of many individuals. This project demonstrates the power of creative leadership and community collaboration, combining design, marketing, and organizational strategy to mobilize resources, inspire participation, and make a measurable difference.
